When the Woodham Ferrers and Bicknacre Parish Council were given seven acres of land adjacent to the priory arch, they set up a group to administer and maintain the arch and land. These volunteers became known as “The Friends of Priory Fields”.

The Priory Fields Committee

The Friends consist of a committee, with a representative from the Parish Council, and a group of dedicated volunteers who have carried out much work to improve access around the fields and particularly to the arch. With the help of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund a further 25 acres of land was purchased.

The Working Party Team

This is now a great challenge for a small group and there is always a requirement for extra volunteers to help with the various tasks around the fields. We have monthly work parties with particular works carried out at other times. If you are fit, enjoy working outdoors and could spare a little time you would be very welcome to join us.
