Priory Fields News

Below is all the news from the Friends of Priory Fields.

Ford Community Service Day + Photos on the Gallery
On Thursday 18th September Priory Fields was a hive of activity when 37 employees of the Ford Motor Company chose to donate their services to us for the day. The company, like many large organisations, encourages their staff to run occasional days on which they go out into the community and carry out work for charities and local groups. Work on four major projects was carried out. A balustrade was constructed around the main entrance and a new pedestrian entrance was created from Moor Hall Lane. Clearing away brambles and undergrowth opened up a section of the stream bank in the West Water-meadow and much clearing was also done in the area around the garage. The weather was extremely kind to us all day and everyone seemed to have an enjoyable and satisfying time. As a group we are extremely grateful for this intense effort as it would have probably taken several months to complete with our own small, but enthusiastic, band of volunteers.
New Picnic Tables
We now have four picnic tables permanently sited near the large oak tree just inside the East Meadow. We hope you find these useful, if so we may add others further afield in the future.
Official Opening of Priory Fields
The official opening took place on Saturday 19th July during the Bicknacre Fun Day. Two new information boards, erected at the entrance to the fields and beside the Priory Arch, were unveiled by Rev Mary Cottee with the help of Alexandra and Harry who represented the two local primary schools.
Next working party
Our working parties are held on the weekend starting the second Saturday in each month. We start at 0930 until about 1300 but would be glad to see you at any time on either day.
